Gas leak evacuation lifted in Chollas Creek

SAN DIEGO - Approximately 15 people were back home Thursday after evacuations were lifted due to an accidentally ruptured a natural gas line in the Chollas Creek area, authorities said.

The leak in the area of Balboa Vista Drive, near Laurel and Seifert streets, was reported just before 9 a.m., according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher. A construction crew reportedly struck the gas line.

San Diego Gas & Electric crews were able to repair the damage by 11:30 a.m.

The leak affected 22 homes in the area.
