LA MESA, Calif. - A hit-and-run driver slammed into a garage in La Mesa early Saturday.
The crash occurred near Fuerte and Alzeda drives.
Though the driver was caught, the homeowner says he left behind tens of thousands of dollars in damage. The homeowner, named Jan, said she has lost irreplaceable items.
Aside from the obvious damage to her garage, Jan said she has lost an antique phone booth, which was found leaning against her car. She said it was a present to her mother, who has since passed away.
Jan said Saturday's crash is the fifth time someone has plowed into her property. All have run off the curve and hit her fence.
"This is horrible," Jan said. "And I can't get anything done. All I can get is more signs and the signs don't help."
Although she is thankful that no one was hurt, Jan is hopeful that her garage will remind drivers to slow down.
"Somebody's going to get killed," she said. "They will. I'm scared to come out here."
