ESCONDIDO, Calif. - A 17-year-old girl is recovering after becoming dehydrated during a cross country meet at Kit Carson Park in Escondido.
The incident occurred Saturday during the Bronco Round-Up, where 33 local high schools were participating.
According to one of the coaches organizing the event, a doctor on scene treated her and ensured she was all right.
The coach told 10News they shortened some of the runs due to the concern of the high heat and humidity on Saturday.
The Patrick Henry High School senior's parents also took her to Rady Children's hospital to be checked out. She received an IV and was later released.
We’re told there was just one injury during the cross country races due to heat exhaustion.
