SAN DIEGO - San Diego police and San Diego County Crime Stoppers sought the public's help Saturday to find two men who allegedly robbed several adult bookstores and their patrons over a seven-month period.
The suspects are wanted in connection with the armed robberies at Mercury Books at 7435 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., which was robbed on March 16, April 13 and again early Wednesday; a heist at the Adult Emporium at 5101 Convoy St. on March 20; and another at the Adult Depot at 3487 Kurtz St. on April 14, according to police detectives.
Police said one suspect used a gun and the other a knife. The gun-wielding man demanded money from the cash register and safe, while the suspect armed with a knife takes customers' wallets and phones, police said.
They then leave the store, and have been seen getting into a silver four-door sedan, similar to a Honda Accord, with tinted windows and a spoiler on the trunk, police said.
One suspect was described as black, in his 20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall and thin. The other was a man in his 20s of unknown race with a similar build.
Authorities asked anyone with information on the identity or location of the suspects to call police at (619) 531-2299; or to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or via email at sdcrimestoppers.net.
