SAN DIEGO - One person died Friday in a head-on collision between a car and a big rig on a rural highway in northeastern San Diego County.
The collision occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on state Route 79, near SR-76 and Lake Henshaw in Morettis Junction, according to the California Highway Patrol.
An occupant of the smaller vehicle died at the scene, the CHP reported.
Traffic was being detoured around the accident scene to the south, through the Mesa Grande area.
