The abortive robbery of Crest Liquor at 6139 Balboa Ave. was reported at 8:48 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The would-be robber fled in a gold minivan after a customer walked into the business, Delimitros said in a statement.

Police described him as Hispanic, in his 20s, around 5 feet 7 inches, with a medium build. He wore a white shirt over his face and a black hoodie, Delimitros said.
