IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- It never gets any easier, watching a heartbroken family arrive at a fatal scene to find their loved one dead. It's even harder still, when you learn that they’ve been here before.

One week after the murder of her son, an Imperial Beach mother sat down for an emotional interview with 10News.

“I was coming home and somebody called and told me that he was shot," said Julie Sigua, the mother of a man who was shot to death over a woman last week. “This is not the way you handle an argument, by shooting somebody.”

10News was at the breaking news scene as deputies investigated and as Julie and her family were told that Ricardo Sales was the man lying dead in the street.

That night was not the first that Julia, a mother of four, was told she'd lost a son to gun violence.

"My other son was an innocent bystander, he went to the store, and he never came home," Julie said of her some Emmanuel Sales, who was shot to death in 2003.

Both men were fathers, taken from their children.

"God takes one and leaves one," Julie said. "(He) left me with a gorgeous grandson.”

They say no mother should have to bury her child. But in a cruel twist of fate, Julie has buried three.

The ashes of Rommel Sales sit on a shelf at the family’s home. He was shot to death in 2007, which leave only one son with Julie.

“I feel lost, and lonely," said Rogelio Sales, the surviving brother. “I’m used to having one brother beside me when one another passes away...now I don’t have one.”

This Thanksgiving he says it's tough for him to keep his mind on being thankful.

"Makes me think am I next," he said.

For those of us lucky enough to be with family on Thanksgiving, Julie has this to say, "tell them you love them everyday. Don’t argue with them. Make peace with them. Love them.”

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family pay for Ricardo Sales' funeral costs.
