SAN DIEGO - A massive electric turbine generator that is being towed through San Diego blocked a major roadway in the Lincoln Park neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
The generator was stalled on Imperial Avenue near the Interstate 805 freeway for several hours early Wednesday morning. As of 6 a.m., it had made its way northeast from Imperial Avenue to Lemon Grove Avenue. At about 7 a.m., it stalled at Sweetwater Road and Spring Vista Way. It was moving at about 2 miles per hour.
Morning commuters were advised to avoid the area.
Crews have been attempting to move the generator through the region for the past two days. Its final destination is Mexico, by way of Arizona, according to Contractors Cargo, the company in charge of the move.
On Tuesday morning, the same generator blocked an intersection in Ocean View when it got stuck between some poles as it tried to make a turn near Lincoln High School.
