SAN DIEGO -

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell today for the 15th consecutive day, dropping 3 cents to $4.407, one day after decreasing nine-tenths of a cent.

The average price has dropped 31.8 cents over the past 15 days after rising 54.7 cents over the previous six days to a record high of $4.725, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped 21.5 cents in less than a week, but it has increased 27.9 cents in the last month and 53.8 cents in the last year.

"The supply crisis that originally caused the panic in early October is over in California and also for all of the U.S.," Marie Montgomery Nordhues of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.

"There was a sense that prices were too high relative to demand, so there have been massive drops in prices."
