SAN DIEGO - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County decreased Monday for the fifth day in a row,  falling six-tenths of a cent to $4.26.

The average price is 3.2 cents less than one week ago and 11 cents lower than one year ago, but 27 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Gasoline prices rose 28 out of 30 days before the start of the current string of declines.

The recent  drop in prices are the result of decreasing prices for oil and gasoline futures caused by an increase in fuel supplies, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
