Fundraiser on 3rd anniversary of SDPD Officer Jeremy Henwood's death

SAN DIEGO - A fundraiser will be held Thursday at a McDonald’s restaurant in City Heights on the third anniversary of the death of San Diego police officer Jeremy Henwood.

On Aug. 6, 2011, the 36-year-old Henwood was shot by a suicidal gunman while on duty. He died at the next day. Moments before the shooting, surveillance video at a City Heights McDonald's captured the officer buying cookies for a young boy.

Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. today, the McDonald’s at 3879 Fairmount Avenue will donate a portion of its proceeds to the San Diego Police Officers Association Widows and Orphans Fund.

A remembrance ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park located at 3700 Fairmount Ave.
