SAN DIEGO - Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner was hospitalized after allegedly losing consciousness this week.
Filner was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital Wednesday afternoon, a source at the hospital told 10News, after he had a suspected syncopal episode. He had reportedly been working out before getting into a Jacuzzi and passing out.
The details of his condition Thursday were not disclosed. The hospital did not immediately return calls for confirmation.
The 71-year-old Filner resigned from office in disgrace in August of 2013 after several women came forward accusing him of sexual harassment.
In October, he plead guilty to charges of false imprisonment and battery, stemming from the allegations. In December he was sentenced to three-months of house arrest, which ended in April.
Early Thursday evening, 10News learned Filner was released from the hospital.
