Firefighters ask San Diegans to fill the boot for Burn Institute

SAN DIEGO - Forty local fire departments are participating in the 15th annual Firefighter Boot Drive on Thursday.

The firefighters are stationed at 100 locations throughout the county collecting donations in boots for the Burn Institute, a nonprofit health agency dedicated to reducing the number of burn injuries and deaths in San Diego.

In 2013, the firefighters raised nearly $200,000 for the Burn Institute's programs.
