Downed power lines spark small brush fire in Cleveland National Forest

SAN DIEGO - Crews have extinguished a small vegetation fire in the Cleveland National Forest on Palomar Mountain.

The incident was reported at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday near 33120 Canfield Rd.

Officials say someone was cutting a tree, which then fell into nearby power lines, downing them. That sparked a small fire that burned less than an acre.

More than 650 customers in the surrounding area are without power. Service is expected to be restored by 2 p.m.

No injuries were immediately reported.
