Crews knock down fire in Mount Hope riverbed

SAN DIEGO - Crews were able to douse a fire that erupted in a riverbed in the Mount Hope area.

The fire broke out just before 5:30 p.m. in a riverbed near Market and 36th streets, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department officials.

Crews were able to extinguish the flames at about 6 p.m. The blaze burned less than one acre.

No structures were immediately threatened and no injuries were reported.
