LAKESIDE, Calif. - A fire broke out in a vacant residence in Lakeside, and the cause of the blaze remained under investigation Sunday, fire officials said.
Smoke and flames were reported coming from the back side of the residence in the 9500 block of Single Oak Drive, near Lemon Crest Drive on Saturday evening, according to Lakeside Fire Protection District Capt. Scott Culkin.
A fire crew, who arrived in less than six minutes, forced their way in through the front door to get at the fire that was burning in several rooms, he said.
Firefighters quickly got a handle on the blaze by using roof ventilation and an interior fire attack, Culkin said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, fire officials said. An estimate of damage was not available, and a precise time of the fire alarm was not released or available.
