EL CAJON, Calif. - Investigators are looking into a fire that ripped through an El Cajon business Tuesday.
The blaze was reported in the 700 block of El Cajon Boulevard near Marshall Avenue shortly after 4:30 a.m. at an electric cart services business. The business repairs and sells golf carts.
According to witnesses, flames and smoke can be seen on the Interstate 8 freeway.
Heartland Fire & Rescue sent out an alert at 5:12 a.m. for people to avoid the area.
El Cajon Boulevard from Marshall Avenue to Chase Avenue was shut down and a nearby trolley stop was also impacted. As of 6:48 a.m., eastbound lanes reopened and the trolley station resumed services.
“I heard these loud explosions so I ran over here. And I saw these big flames - and I called the fire department," said Firnando DeHoyes, a witness.
An employee at the golf cart shop told 10News, the business has been around for more than 30 years.
