SAN DIEGO - A man suffered smoke inhalation and a cat died when the building they were in, a limousine company, caught fire on Thursday.
The fire happened around 3:30 p.m. at Carey Limousine Chauffeur & Guide Service in the 3000 block of Rosecrans Place. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming out of the building.
The man with smoke inhalation was taken to a hospital for treatment. Fire officials said no one else was in the building, which contained around 20 limousines. It is unknown at this point whether any of the vehicles were damaged.
The fire appears to have started in the back of the building in either a living space or break room, fire officials said, adding that there was nothing suspicious about it at this point.
