LA MESA, Calif. - Flames ravaged a vacant condominium unit in La Mesa early Friday, causing about $75,000 in damage, authorities said.

The noninjury fire at Daybreak Condos at 5715 Baltimore Drive was reported shortly after 6 a.m., according to Heartland Fire & Rescue.

It was contained about a half-hour later, Heartland spokeswoman Monica Zech said.

The condo was being renovated, Zech said.

Residents of a neighboring condo unit were evacuated, La Mesa police said.
