The association said the event will focus on issues affecting the San Diego Latino community, such as immigration, education, labor and criminal justice.

The four major candidates verbally jousted over voting records, reliance on ballot measures and plans for port jobs in a 90-minute debate Wednesday sponsored by The Lincoln Club of San Diego County, the San Diego Association of Realtors and San Diego County Taxpayers Association.

Councilman Carl DeMaio, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Rep. Bob Filner, D-San Diego, and Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher are vying to succeed Mayor Jerry Sanders, who will be termed-out in December. He has endorsed Dumanis.

If no one receives more than 50 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary, the top two finishers will face off in the November general election.

The La Raza Lawyers forum will be co-moderated by Joanne Faryon, host of "Evening Edition" on KPBS, and Elsa Sevilla, producer and host of KPBS' "San Diego's Historic Places."
