Fight over bike leads to stabbing in downtown San Diego

SAN DIEGO - A fight between transients over a bicycle led one of the men to stab the other in the Core-Columbia area of downtown San Diego early Friday, police said.

The stabbing in the 1200 block of Third Avenue was reported at 12:11 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

The man who was stabbed was taken to a local trauma center to treat two non-life threatening wounds to his side torso area, Stafford said.

Police described the at-large suspect as white, 30-35 years old, 5 feet 10 and thin.
