EL CAJON, Calif. - A family in El Cajon was displaced Monday after a portion of the ceiling in their apartment collapsed.
Heartland Fire & Rescue crews responded to reports of a ceiling collapse in the 700 block of S. Magnolia Avenue at about 12:20 p.m.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find the ceiling in the living room area of an apartment had collapsed. One person was home at the time of the collapse, but no injuries were reported.
Fire crews, along with city of El Cajon building inspectors, inspected the unit and nearby apartment units. They found 23 additional units in need of ceiling repair.
Two adults and one child were temporarily displaced by the collapse and were moved to a vacant apartment in the same complex.
Repairs to the units are expected to begin Tuesday.
