LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - A wildfire that is continuing to threaten hundreds of homes in Riverside County is only 20 percent contained, fire officials said.
San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Marc Peebles told The Press-Enterprise that the Falls Fire near Lake Elsinore has burned more than 1,400 acres, or more than two square miles of land.
The fire has burned a few outbuildings, and it continues to threaten homes in its path in the communities of Decker Canyon and Lakeland Village, fire officials said.
However, evacuation orders for Lakeland Village and Rancho Capistrano have been lifted.
The fire began Monday near the lake in Cleveland National Forest.
About 1,000 firefighters aided by aircraft are battling the blaze.
