Fallbrook woman suspected of killing 53-year-old son-in-law

Cynthia Katherine Cdebaca is in custody

FALLBROOK - A North County woman was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of fatally shooting her son-in-law on her 63rd birthday at the upscale home they shared in a gated community near the eastern reaches of Camp Pendleton.

Cynthia Kaye Cdebaca of Fallbrook allegedly gunned down Geoward Eustaquio, 53, on Tuesday morning in the Peppertree Park development, which consists of about 225 houses.

A 911 caller reported hearing someone shouting and what sounded like gunshots from inside a home in the 600 block of Braemar Terrace about 8 a.m., according to sheriff's deputies. Getting no response at the door, deputies entered and found Eustaquio's body.

A motive has not been established, homicide Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said.

Cdebaca and Eustaquio were believed to be the only ones in the home when the shooting occurred. Cdebaca lived with Eustaquio, his wife and their two children, and a teenager from another marriage also has stayed there at times, Jan Caldwell of the sheriff's department said.

Authorities would not say when or where Cdebaca was arrested. She was booked on suspicion of first-degree murder, denied bail and locked up in Las Colinas women's jail in Santee. Arraignment is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

According to an online job resume, Eustaquio worked as a "space orbital analyst" for the California Air National Guard. His wife is a real-estate agent, neighbors said.

"He was a great man, a great father -- just a good person," family friend Patricia Aguigui told news crews.
