Facebook honors fallen Camp Pendleton Marine with 'A Look Back' anniversary video

Social media giant highlights life of Will Stacey

SAN DIEGO - Facebook honored a fallen Camp Pendleton Marine as it celebrated its 10-year anniversary this week.

The social media giant -- which offered its users videos clips of their lives titled, "A Look Back" -- highlighted the love story of Sgt. William C. Stacey, who died in January 2012, and his girlfriend Kimmy Kirkwood.

Kirkwood shared the story of when she first met Stacey in 2007 during high school and when her "world fell apart" after his death. The story was one of 10 highlighted by Facebook on its corporate page.

Seattle native Stacey began serving in 2007 and made five deployments, three of which were in combat zones.

He was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan while he was on foot patrol. After his death, Stacey's family shared a letter the Marine wrote in case he was killed in action.
