SAN DIEGO - A former Pomerado Hospital employee was in custody Friday for allegedly making online death threats against his former co-workers, authorities said.
Detectives arrested Jelann Miles, 26, late Thursday evening after serving a search warrant at his Mission Valley residence, San Diego County sheriff's officials said.
Nearly 12 hours earlier, security personnel with the Poway medical center had reported discovering the menacing statements on the business directory service Yelp.
"The posting directed the threats against specific hospital staff members and indicated firearms and possibly explosives would be used in the attacks at the hospital," Lt. Jeff Duckworth said.
Deputies from the Poway sheriff's station worked to identify the source of the statements along with the Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team, which consists of officers with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
While the investigation proceeded, sheriff's personnel also helped Pomerado staffers augment security at the hospital.
Miles was booked into county jail on suspicion of making terrorist threats. His bail was set at $350,000.
