Escondido police, search and rescue volunteers searching for missing hiker in Daley Ranch area

ESCONDIDO, Calif. - Escondido police and search and rescue volunteers on Wednesday are searching for a missing hiker in the Daley Ranch area.

At least 16 search and rescue volunteers with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and two police dogs are currently searching for 40-year-old Silene Morales, who was last seen just before 4 p.m.

10News learned that she and her boyfriend went on a day hike. The boyfriend left her to get his bike and when he came back, she was gone. He called police at about 4 p.m. after searching for more than an hour.

The sheriff's department's ASTREA helicopter assisted with the search earlier. The area where volunteers are currently searching is in hilly terrain and heavily wooded.

Morales is wearing a sweatshirt and light jacket but has no food or backpack.

Police do not suspect foul play.
