Escondido checkpoint nets 2 arrests

ESCONDIDO, Calif. - Two motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and 20 citations were issued during an overnight driver's license/sobriety checkpoint in Escondido, police said Saturday.

Of the 20 citations, 12 motorists were cited for driving unlicensed, six for suspended licenses and four for no insurance, according to a department statement.

The checkpoint took place in the area of Grant Avenue and Spruce Street, according to the statement. Police did not release what time the checkpoint took place.
