Escondido building damaged in blaze

ESCONDIDO - Officials say a wood-burning stove sparked a fire that damaged an outbuilding in Escondido Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 3:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of Del Dios Road. Escondido fire crews arrived to find the single-story building engulfed in flames. They were able to keep the fire from spreading.

The fire was knocked down within about 15 minutes, the Escondido Fire Department said. There were no injuries.

Investigators determined the fire was caused by an unattended wood-burning stove next to the building started the fire.

A financial estimate of the damage was not confirmed.
