POTRERO, Calif. - Fire crews have rescued a 42-year-old man who fell into a 35-foot well in the unincorporated community of Potrero on on Sunday.

A member of the man's immediate family called 911 about 4:15 p.m. and said the man was unconscious after falling into the well off Potrero Circle near Potrero Valley Road, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler said.

The man was working on the well and was standing on a board when it snapped.

He was pulled from the well at about 6:15 p.m. and was being airlifted via Mercy Air helicopter to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries and his condition were unknown.
