Man who plunged nearly 100 feet off a cliff dies
Well-known skater died hours after fall

ENCINITAS - Authorities have released the identity of the man who died after plunging nearly 100 feet off of a cliff at Leucadia State Beach.
The 22-year-old man was identified Ian Barry. He was a native of Encinitas and a local skater who has been featured in ESPN and other skating publications, according to the blog Encinitas Undercover.
Police said another man found Barry at the base of the cliff with life threatening injuries at about 3:22 a.m. Thursday.
Police said Barry jumped a fence to get to the edge of the dangerous cliff.
Barry was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital and despite aggressive intervention, he died few hours later, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner.
