SAN DIEGO - Authorities Monday released the name of an 88-year-old woman who was fatally struck by a pizza delivery driver while attempting to cross the street against a red light in Otay Mesa.
Ejanda Salome of San Diego was hit while in the 900 block of Picador Boulevard, near Caminito Quixote, just before 7 p.m. Sunday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
The driver, a 21-year-old woman in a Chevy Cavalier, was not hurt, SDPD Officer David Stafford said in a statement.
Salome died at the scene. She was a widow, who lived with her son and his wife in San Diego, the Medical Examiner's Office said.
An investigation was ongoing into whether the motorist should face any charges.
