El Cajon police search for men suspected of stealing dogs from animal shelter

Police say 2 pit bulls taken by 2 men

EL CAJON, Calif. - Police are looking for two men suspected of stealing two dogs from an El Cajon animal shelter.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday at the El Cajon Animal Shelter on 1275 N. Marshall Avenue, according to El Cajon police.

Police said two men visited the shelter and were looking at two dogs in separate kennels. The men were asking a shelter attendant questions about the dogs, but the attendant referred them to the shelter's office.

When the attendant went to another part of the shelter, police said the men took the two dogs from the kennels.

According to police, the two dogs taken were pit bulls. One was described as brown and white and about 3 years old. The other was described as blue and white and about 7 months old.

A description of the men was not immediately available, and police are continuing their investigation.
