EL CAJON, Calif. - At least two people were displaced after a fire destroyed three apartments above a vacant commercial business in El Cajon, causing $150,000 in damage, authorities said.
The blaze broke out in the 1200 block of North Second Street at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Heartland Fire and Rescue spokeswoman, Monica Zech.
Firefighters battled the raging inferno for at least 45 minutes before they were able to extinguish the fire.
Two of the three apartments were vacant, along with the commercial business space, Zech said, noting the latter sustained smoke and water damage.
Damage was estimated at $150,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
