EL CAJON, Calif. - An early-morning fire destroyed a trailer in El Cajon early Saturday.

The fire was reported at about 1:25 a.m. at the "Turn In" Trailer Park in the 200 block of South Second Street. When firefighters arrived, they found a trailer home engulfed by flames and threatening nearby trailers.

Firefighters with the Heartland Fire & Rescue Department and the San Miguel Fire Protection District had the fire contained and extinguished in less than 10 minutes.

The resident of the trailer home was able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.

The trailer home was declared a total loss. Damage was estimated at $15,000. Neighboring properties sustained minor smoke and heat damage.

Neighbors are helping out the displaced resident with shelter. The park's owner is assisting as well.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
