Heroin, meth worth $500K seized by Border Patrol at Pine Valley checkpoint

A woman trying to smuggle more than half million dollars worth of illegal drugs in her car has been arrested, according to the Border Patrol.

Authorities says a service dog alerted agents to the 33-year-old Mexican citizen's car at the Pine Valley inspection facility Sunday morning.

Around 13 pounds of heroin and 25 pounds of methamphetamine were found in a compartment beneath the dash, according to agents.

Authorities say the driver is expected to face federal charges.
