SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Border Patrol agents nabbed a man they said was trafficking narcotics over San Diego's border with the help of a drone.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said a 25-year-old American citizen was arrested after agents found him in possession of several pounds of methamphetamine flown over the border using a drone.

Agents said they observed the drone just before 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 8, fly over the U.S.-Mexico border near the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Agents alerted others in the area to be on the lookout for the aerial vehicle.
About 10 minutes later, an agent found a man near the border, at Servano Avenue and Valentino Street, carrying a "large open bag" that contained multiple bags found to contain more than 13 pounds of methamphetamine. The narcotics are valued at about $46,000.

After the man was arrested, a drone hidden under a nearby bush was discovered and confiscated.
"Due to the agents’ heightened vigilance, this drone smuggling scheme was stopped before these dangerous narcotics could enter our communities," Acting Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Boone Smith said.
