Driver who rammed cars in I-5 road rage in Encinitas wanted

ENCINITAS - Authorities today sought the driver of a silver Acura TSX station wagon who rammed a man's car several times, then struck another car, as she plowed through slowed traffic on Interstate 5 in Encinitas May 14.

Witnesses told California Highway Patrol officers the southbound Acura, which had paper plates, rammed a Acura RL sedan in the fast lane -- traffic was moving at only about 5 mph -- then swerved into the median to pass, just north of Encinitas Boulevard, about 8 a.m. that Wednesday.

The suspect -- described as a white woman in her 40s with long, curly brown hair with highlights -- then struck a black BMW and kept on driving, according to investigators.

The collisions left the Acura RL's driver with neck and back injuries, authorities said.

The suspect's vehicle likely would have a damaged  front end, with black and/or white paint possibly transferred onto the damaged areas.

If caught, the woman could be booked for assault with a deadly weapon and felony hit and run.

Anyone with more information as to the woman's name or whereabouts was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or send email to sdcrimestoppers.org.
