SPRING VALLEY, Calif. - A driver who allegedly opened fire in the direction of another motorist on state Route 52 in the Tierrasanta area late Tuesday afternoon was detained in Spring Valley a short time later, authorities said.
The shooting, which may have involved a pellet gun and apparently caused no injuries, reportedly occurred near Santo Road about 4:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The alleged victim claimed the driver of a silver Scion pulled out what appeared to be a handgun, pointed it at him four times and then fired two to three rounds, according to the CHP.
The alleged victim provided CHP officers with a license plate and it was tracked to a home in the 8900 block of Ildica Street in Spring Valley.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning, authorities said.
The suspect's name was not immediately available.
The motive for the shooting was unclear.
