Driver Runs Red Light, Crashes Into Patrol Car

A Chula Vista police sergeant was hospitalized with minor injuries after a driver ran a red light and crashed into his patrol car.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Telegraph Canyon Road and Interstate 805 at about 11 p.m. Saturday.Investigators said the sergeant was traveling westbound approaching a green light when the driver of a red car went through a red light and turned left into the path of the cruiser. The sergeant did not have time to brake and the two cars collided.The other driver, a woman, was not injured. The sergeant suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital to be treated.Police believe the woman may have been talking on a cellphone before the collision.The incident remains under investigation.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
