CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol is searching for two men who robbed a driver at gunpoint while he was changing a flat tire on his vehicle.
The incident was reported at about 8 p.m. Wednesday along northbound Interstate 5 near L Street in Chula Vista.
According to the CHP, a man in a Volkswagen Jetta was pulled over along the freeway so he could change a flat tire. While the driver was changing his tire, a black Honda Civic pulled up. Two men -- who were both armed with handguns -- came out of the Civic and started walking toward him. The man told police that he thought the men were there to help, until he saw their guns.
They took the man's cellphone, wallet and laptop and were last seen heading northbound on I-5.
As if matters could not get any worse for the man, officers impounded his car as evidence.
So far, no arrests have been made.
