SAN DIEGO - A cleanup was underway early Friday after a driver plowed into a fire hydrant, causing water to shoot up 100 feet.
The crash took place at around 2:45 a.m. in University Heights near the intersection of Alabama Street and El Cajon Boulevard.
Firefighters were able to shut off the water around 3 a.m. The crew had to fight the gushing water with their own water from a hose in order to reach a valve.
The driver did not stop at the scene of the crash.
