A 72-year-old man was killed Tuesday when he drove a vehicle off Interstate 5 into a ravine below.

The accident occurred at the Birmingham Drive off-ramp in Encinitas at 11:32 a.m., said Sgt. Emory Wallace of the San Diego Sheriff's Department.The man, whose name was not released, was freed from the vehicle and paramedics were able to get his pulse back, but he was pronounced dead at Scripps La Jolla Hospital, Wallace said.The man will be identified by the Medical Examiner's Office.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
