SAN DIEGO - The driver who died after he crashed into an oncoming fuel tanker on Friars Road in Mission Valley was identified Monday.
Officials said 19-year-old Hunter Lee Harris had been exiting northbound Interstate 15 onto westbound Friars Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control Sunday.
The ramp was wet from recent rain and Harris' car spun out and slid across Friars Road, colliding with a tanker heading eastbound, San Diego police said.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.
Friars Road was closed in both directions following the crash Sunday. The roadway was reopened shortly before 3 p.m. The curving offramp from northbound Interstate 15 to westbound Friars Road was also closed due to the investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol.
