SAN DIEGO - A car burst into flames in Linda Vista Saturday morning and it was all caught on camera.
A San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said a fire broke out at 2:04 a.m. underneath a black BMW in front of 5898 Linda Vista Rd. near Goshen Street.
Firefighters sent one unit to extinguish the fire in the BMW, which sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages, the dispatcher said.
Fire crews said a driver was behind the wheel of the BMW when it ignited, but he managed to get out before the car was fully engulfed in fire. According to crews at the scene, the man was not injured.
Firefighters said they suspect that the car's gearbox may have exploded and set fire to the vehicle.
