The accident occurred on Mohawk and 70th Streets in Rolando. The driver told police he was heading eastbound when a cat ran in front of him.

He said he swerved his 2011 BMW to avoid hitting it and collided head-on with a parked car.

Police performed several sobriety tests and the man passed, though he admitted to drinking earlier.

Another accident was reported overnight where a driver suspected of being under the influence crashed on the Interstate 8 offramp to Fletcher Parkway and left the scene to drive to a nearby McDonald's.

The crash occurred at 3:30 a.m. The woman slammed into a fence, scattering car parts on the road.

But the woman driving the car, which had a smashed front, missing headlights and flat tire, left the scene and headed to a nearby McDonald's.

La Mesa police followed a trail of leaked automobile fluids and found the woman at the McDonald's.

Officers surrounded her vehicle and learned that she is on probation for driving under the influence. They learned also that there is a warrant for her arrest.

The woman failed sobriety tests administered by police.
