Dozens of bikers roar through Balboa Park to deliver goods to Wounded Warriors

SAN DIEGO - A few dozen bikers roared through Balboa Park Friday with a special delivery.

The group rode from Arizona to San Diego escorting a trailer full of goods for men and women injured in combat overseas.

"Shampoo, shaving cream, razors, just the basic necessities," said Craig Barnes of Operation Wounded Warrior.

The trailer carried about $12,000 in goods for the injured at Naval Medical Center San Diego. It will help them transition out of the hospital.

"So while they go up to their barracks," said Barnes, "they still haven't got their gear yet. Their gear's still in Afghanistan, wherever they got wounded."

The group said it's their way of saying "thank you" and giving back to those who served.

"It's the best thousand miles I've ever put on my bike," said Barnes.
