Thousands filled downtown streets Friday, tempers flaring. Fights breaking out. Local business owners on edge.

The reason: Presidential candidate Donald Trump to hold an afternoon rally in the convention center.

"The cops were lined up almost in file right along in from of my patio," said Jerry Levy, owner of Tin Fish, which was in the center of it all.

Protesters, not standing down.

"It was as if they were throwing everything they could get their hands on at my building," Levy said.

Levy took extra precautions early, knowing things could escalate quickly. "They can't get it (chairs and dining tables outside) because it's all chained together so one's going to connect to all of them," Levy said.

His building took one small hit. All the signs thankfully are still in place.

"I think San Diego did a great job," he said.  "We didn't lose a thing, not one item."
