Dolphin Beached Near Mission Beach Dies

A small dolphin that beached itself near Mission Beach on Saturday has died.

Reports of a dolphin beached near the 2800 block of Mission Boulevard came in at about 12 p.m. Saturday.

Beachgoers thought at first it was a shark, but as they got closer, they saw it was a dolphin and rushed to help it.

A SeaWorld rescue team was called out to take the dolphin and help it recover. Lifeguards worked to keep the dolphin wet until the rescue team arrived and picked up the dolphin. 10News learned the dolphin died on the way to SeaWorld.
