VIDEO: Dog rescued from I-5 freeway

SAN DIEGO - A one-year-old Australian Shepard was found stranded on  the side of the Interstate 5 freeway in San Diego’s Old Town neighborhood late Monday night.

A driver spotted the dog at about 10:30 p.m. on the shoulder and pulled over to call 911. According to California Highway Patrol, the woman stayed with the dog until troopers arrived on scene and wrangled her.

She was taken VCA Emergency Animal Hospital in Mission Valley to get treatment for her bloody paws. She was then taken to the Gains Street Shelter.

Her picture will be placed online so her owner can hopefully find her. If she is not claimed, the trooper who responded said he would adopt the dog.
